Eros TimesDelhi:EROS TIMES: Labour Department, GNCTD has revised minimum rates of wages for various categories of workers in Delhi which is expected to benefit about 55 lakh workers working in Delhi both in formal and informal sectors. The Hon’ble Supreme Court vied its order dated 14.10.2019 has upheld the rates proposed by Labour Department which were subsequently gazette notified on 22.10.2019. Also 2 installments of DA which fell due w.e.f. 01.04.2019 and 01.10.2019 were also notified subsequently.
Approximately 29000 out sourced workers / personnel are engaged in various departments of GNCTD through various contractors / outsourced agencies, in order to ensure compliance of minimum rates of wages notified by Labour Department, disbursement of arrears of minimum rates of wages and also compliance of bonus advisory dated 15.10.2019 issued by Labour Department, an interactive meeting of 65 Hods of various Govt. Departments and their contractors was chaired by Labour Minister, Gopal Rai today in Delhi Secretariat to see an evaluate the status of implementation.
The meeting was attended by Secretary-Cum-Commissioner (Labour) and other senior officers of Labour Department, 138 representatives from various Govt. Departments and 71 contractors participated / attended the said meeting. The Minister advised all concerned for strict compliance of new rates of minimum wages, disbursement of arrears and also payment of bonus (in case not paid so far).
Some issues regarding tender document were raised by the contractors concerning some of the departments which were taken note of. The next interactive meeting is scheduled to be held on 16.12.2019 wherein all contractors shall be submitting their status report on these issues.
