New Delhi:EROS TIMES: December 2019—Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Subhash Chopra, strongly condemning the conspiracy hatched by BJP and AAP to incite violence at Okhla, Jamia Millia University and Seelampur, to unleash attacks on students and innocent people, and police entering the university campus without permission, which was a serious offence, demanded a probe by a sitting High Court judge.
Addressing a press conference at the DPCC office, Rajiv Bhawan here today, along with Arvinder Singh Lovely and chief spokesperson Mukesh Sharma, Subhash Chopra said that the BJP and AAP were responsible for the violence in Delhi and the high-handed action by police against the students and demanded a probe by a sitting High Court Judge to unravel the truth.
Subhash Chopra, making a direct attack on BJP and AAP, said that both these parties were responsible for vitiating the atmosphere in Delhi. Chopra said that the Citizenship Amendment Act passed by the BJP Government at the Centre was a direct insult on the Indian Constitution framed by Dr Baba Saheb Ambedkar. He said that the silence of AAP on the CAA shows its complicity with the BJP as it has also not come out in the open to oppose it. Chopra said that the attack on students of Jamia was an indelible blot on democracy which will not be tolerated.
Subhash Chopra said that the violence witnessed in the Capital was a calculated conspiracy to scuttle the peaceful agitations against CAA. Chopra and Arvinder Singh Lovely today visited injured Jamia student Minhazuddin at his residence.
It may be recalled that this student was assaulted by the police when he was reading in the library, and he lost his eye-sight. Chopra appealed to the people of Delhi to maintain peace as there was no place for violence in a civil society.
He appealed to the people not to take law into their hands.
Subhash Chopra and Arvinder Singh Lovely said that the people of Okhla are angry with Kejriwal as the people have alleged that the burned buses, lying there for the past four days, have not been removed from the PWD roads despite the roads and the buses being under the AAP Government. They said that this shows AAP’s mindset.
Arvinder Singh Lovley, making a direct attack on Prime Minister Modi, said that the PM’s charge that Congress was creating this violence showed his fear and insecurity. He said that immediately after Modi’s threat, Delhi Police filed cases against Congress leaders. He said that the BJP and AAP have joined hands to spoil the atmosphere in the Capital to create fear psychosis among the people. Shri Lovely demanded that the cases filed against innocent Congress leaders should be withdrawn forthwith. Shri Lovely, quoting the statements of Aam Aadmi Party’s Okhla and Seelampur MLAs who made allegations against former Congress MLAs, said that this proved that the AAP was hands in glove with the BJP to incite violence in Delhi as they were losing their political ground.
He said that the Congress party has waged many agitations, including the Independence struggle, but never took recourse to violence to meet its objective.
But he asserted that the Congress party will never shy away from speaking the truth, and no force will be able to suppress its voice.
Mukesh Sharma said that police entering the Jamia campus was a serious offence, and cases should be filed against those responsible for the transgression. Sharma said that Government’s duty was to maintain peace and brotherhood, to enforced the rule of law and protect the Constitution, but the BJP Government is doing exactly the opposite to indulge in the politics of hatred and divide in Delhi and across the country and the consequences of such acts would be very serious. Mukesh Sharma asserted that the Congress party’s peaceful agitation against CAA will continue, and the party will oppose it till the Act is withdrawn. He said that the attack on students was a shameful act which showed the mindset of an insecure Government.
