DELHI:EROS TIMES: A High Level meeting of senior Officers and Engineers of the PWD was convened by the PWD Minister Satyendar Jain in his office at Delhi Secretariat today, wherein Jain deliberated the issues related to desilting of PWD roads in Delhi.
He sought the progress of the desilting of drains and was informed by the Officers that the progress of desilting of drains as on 12th June 2019 is 77% and the same will be completed by 22nd June 2019. They also ensured the Minister that the work of desilting of PWD roads will be completed by target date.
The Minister suggested the Officers that as per direction of the Yamuna Monitoring Committee, PWD should install bar screening / MS Steel grill in the drains connected with PWD drains to prevent floating material in the PWD drains from the drains of MCD/ DDA/ DJB.
The grill may be fabricated by using 12 mm bars at a vertical distance of 75 mm centre to centre and 200 cm centre to centre in horizontal direction in a frame of angle of size 50×50/40x40mm or as per design approved by Executive Engineer.
Jain directed that all the permanent pumps installed by PWD for draining out runoff should be checked that these are in running condition. Also explore to install device to see whether pump is running or not through mobile.
He also instructed that all the mobile pumps should be in place and tested by 25.6.2019. GPS should be installed in all these mobile pumps.
PWD Minister instructed that all the existing maintenance van should have GPS of the same agency as already directed to monitoring their movement and working.
During rainy season, additional mobile van fitted with GPS of same agency, may be hired as per previous practice so that these vans can reach immediately to remove any pounding of water on PWD roads.
He also directed that during rains the labour in maintenance van may be increased from 5 to 7 to attend complaints of pounding of water, potholes, etc on PWD roads. These labours should have gum boot and jacket bearing PWD apart from necessary boards showing Work in progress by PWD.
It may be ensured that proper safety measures should be taken by these labours so that no accident occurs.
Jain advised that the vans of Horticulture Sub-divisions can also be used for civil works during rainy season, if required.
