Delhi:EROS TIMES: Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia today interacted with members of the newly formed School Management Committee in several schools. During this interaction, describing it as the cabinet of schools, he advised SMC members to take decisions on their own and raise resources. He said, “When it comes to the school operations, you should play the role of a parent.” Asking SMC to write a new story of education development, Mr. Sisodia said, “We should dream and also take responsibility to fulfill them.”
Manish Sisodia today interacted with the newly formed SMC at RSKV No. 1 at Mandavali in Patparganj area and RSBV at West Vinod Nagar. He said, “SMC has a big contribution in achieving 98 percent result in Delhi government schools. In 2015, when I used to go to schools, the principal used to say that for every job one has to depend on the government. Whether it was about the shortage of teachers or maintenance of the school premises, every file used to rotate among the government officials. But we gave full authority to our principals to take all such decisions.”
Mr. Sisodia said, “Every school in itself is a government, headed by the principal and the SMC members are its cabinet. You need to be self-capable in raising resources and work towards the development of the school. Apart from taking resources from the government, ask for the people participation, and take their contribution to the development of the school.” Mr. Sisodia said, “It is our endeavor that SMC should take the entire responsibility of the school so that the state government can limit their role to stating policy and providing buildings and other resources”
Deputy Chief Minister also cited various examples referring to the contribution made by SMC members in the running government schools of Delhi. He said, “In many schools, with the public contribution, SMC members got RO system installed for students. When there was a shortage of a particular subject teacher, alternative arrangements were made for the time being. If a school did not have an economics teacher, then a university professor took classes for a few days.”
Mr. Sisodia advised the SMC members to think out of the box. He said, “If four children of your school are physically weak, then ask a nearby milkman to provide milk to those four students so that they can get proper nutrition. If online education of ten children is interrupted due to lack of mobile, then think of making arrangements with public assistance.” Mr. Sisodia said, “Education is one thing for which, even rich businessmen ask for donations and easily get it. If you ask for something for yourself, you may not get it, but if you seek resources for the education of children, then the entire society will come forward to help you.”
Manish Sisodia said, “SMC members have to play the role of guardian and associate of the school. Teachers are the most respected people as they are doing the noble job of imparting education.” Mr. Sisodia said, “In the last five years, we gave the utmost importance to teachers an have worked towards their convenience. This is the reason we have been able to achieve so much in the field of education.”
Dy CM said, “There is a difference between our desire and our need. Education is not just our desire but it is our need. All our dreams will be fulfilled through education. Let us dream big and take responsibility to fulfill those dreams too.”
During the interaction, various members of SMC expressed their happiness on the responsibility of running the school and making important suggestions. According to the teachers, with the help of school management committees, a cooperative relationship has been established with the parents. Also, the school’s dependence on education authorities for everything has been reduced.
