Delhi:EROS TIMES: Deputy Chief Minister and Education Minister of Delhi, Manish Sisodia met with Heads of Schools from 19 Delhi Government Schools who secured highest turnaround in pass percentage or Quality Index here at the Secretariat on Tuesday.

The Education team of Delhi adopted three strategies to invite the HoS of the high performing schools. Delhi Govt. Schools that exhibited highest improvement in pass percentage in class 12, schools that exhibited highest improvement in pass percentage in class 10, and schools that recorded the Highest QI amongst all Govt. schools in their respective district were called upon for this special interaction with the Hon’ble Education Minister of Delhi along with the Education Team of Delhi.
Shailendra Sharma, Principal Advisor to Director of Education, Govt of Delhi and Ms Atishi, MLA , Kalkaji were also present at the occasion.

Appreciating the efforts of the Heads of Schools who have been committed to help their students by establishing a constant communication channel with them, keeping a tab on their performance and arranging for special classes to get their doubts cleared.

Manish Sisodia said, “Heads of Schools are the leaders of their respective schools and we have entrusted them with this great responsibility of working on performance of their students and they have delivered.” “I also need our HoS to focus on both the quantity and the quality of education. Our onus is to educate every child of Delhi,” said Manish Sisodia.

Each Head of School has his own story to share. We need to learn from each other’s experiences and adopt the ones that suits our context to overcome our own shortcomings. In the coming years, this approach will lead to a record 100% results- Manish Sisodia

Dr. Suresh Kumar, HoS, Sarvodaya Vidyalaya, Narela (whose school recorded a 96.5 pass percentage by improving 27 percentage points) spoke about a unique experiment that he did by identifying specific teachers with a good grasp on certain topics and making them take classes on those topics. “When these expert teachers used to take class on the topic which they are expert in, I would call all my students, even those from other sections to sit in his/her class and take notes. This helped a lot in getting their doubts cleared in those specific topics,” he said.
Ram Bharose Verma, HoS, Vijay Enclave , SBV (whose school recorded 98.3 pass percentage and, a 25% jump in class 12 Board exams and 16% jump in class 10 Board exams) stressed on the importance of giving personal time to the students every week, conducting subject wise analysis and holding meetings with teachers to understand the lapses in teaching-learning.

Akhil Prakash Gupta, HoS, Bharat Nagar, GBSSS, said, “We first traced the weak students, understood the topics or subjects they were facing difficulty in coping with. I then devised a plan to conduct parallel classes for Science and Maths for these students. Our first target was to get these students securing passing marks.” The impact of assigning homework in school and checking the copies then and there itself was great, he said. “I also used to be on rounds and do surprise inspection of the classrooms,” he added. The school has recorded 100% pass percentage in both class 10 and 12 board exams.

Indu Gupta, whose school scored 391 QI, highest QI in District East said that small groupings of students facing difficulty in certain topics or subjects helped a lot in improving their performance and marks.
