Fulfilling CM Kejriwal’s vision of 24-hour piped water to all households & clean Yamuna top priorities

Delhi:EROS TIMES:  Rajinder Nagar MLA and AAP Spokesperson Raghav Chadha stepped into his new role today as he took charge as the Vice-Chairman of the Delhi Jal Board (DJB).

At an introductory meeting with the officials, Chadha reaffirmed that fulfillment of CM Arvind Kejriwal’s vision of (i) 24-hour piped water to all households and (ii) clean Yamuna river were his top priorities.
He reviewed DJB’s ongoing efforts in violence affected North-East Delhi and took stock of the water supply situation in the affected areas. He directed the officials to take immediate steps to ensure effective delivery of clean drinking water to the people in the affected areas, including additional deployment of water tankers, if required.
He reaffirmed that the DJB will work round the clock in the service of the people.

“I express my gratitude to my leader CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal for believing in me. Provision of 24*7 clean piped water to all households and a clean Yamuna are key priorities of the Kejriwal government, I will make every possible effort to make it a reality”, Chadha said.

Explaining the plans for a clean Yamuna, Chadha said that the target for the DJB is to reduce discharge of sewer waste by 25% each year, with the objective of zero sewer waste discharge into the river moving ahead.

Chadha also stressed on the importance of groundwater rejuvenation. He said once Delhi was bestowed with approx. 1000 water bodies.
Delhi Govt is working to restore the water bodies and determined to bring back the ecological balance. In regard to this, pilot projects at Gogha Lake & Rajokri Lake has been commissioned which has become a prototype at national and international level. We will ensure that water availability per ca pita improve.

Our immediate priority is to prepare a Summer Action Plan to handle peak summer water demand.
DJB would work on increasing the water supply in water deficient areas, improving efficiency and faster redressal of complaints, Chadha said.

Ahead of taking charge of his new role, Chadha met CM Arvind Kejriwal and sought his blessings and guidance.
Known for his ability to handle critical assignments, Raghav Chadha is expected to give new shape to the Delhi Jal Board.
In his new role, he will play a crucial role in provision of round the clock piped water to all households and cleaning of Yamuna River, key guarantees promised by CM Kejriwal during the campaigning for Delhi polls.
