Delhi: The 23rd edition of Delhi Book Fair and 19th Stationery & Office Automation Fair concluded successfully at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, today. Smt. Deepak Kumar, IAS, Executive Director, India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) gave away the Awards for Excellence in Display to the participants. Present on the occasion were, Shri N.K. Mehra, President, Federation of Indian Publishers (FIP), Shri Vikas Malhotra, General Manager, ITPO, Shri Navin Gupta, General Secretary, FIP, participants and media persons.
Awards were mainly presented in different categories comprising Hindi, regional and English languages. In Hindi language category, Kitabghar Prakashan won the Gold Medal, Sahitya Academy ,the Silver and Samyak Prakashan won Bronze Medal while in the English language category,Upkar Prakashan won the Gold, Full Marks and Navneet Education the Silver and Bronze Medals, respectively. Publication Division , Ministry of I&B, Government of India, bagged the Gold Medal and Akshar Publication won the Silver Medal and the Bronze went to National Book Trust in the Regional language categories. The Jury Commendation award was presented to Ahmadiya Muslim Jaamat, Delhi.
Awards were also given away for Excellence in Display in the Stationery & Office Automation Fair, Upkar Stationery ,VS Dry Fruit Mart and Million Penn, the Gold , Silver and Bronze Medals , respectively.
Complimenting the Award winners in his key note address, Shri Deepak Kumar, ED,ITPO acknowledged efforts of the FIP in the fair inspite of all challenges. Emphasizing need to promote reading habit among the gen next, he said efforts must be made to produce low- priced books to cater the need of people at the grass root. Despite advent of digital era, paper books are relevant today and would remain so in future, he added . He said efforts would be made to improve overall participation and visitors response along with event logistics in the next edition of the fairs.
