New Delhi:EROS TIMES: Delhi Cabinet Ministers on Tuesday visited the violence-hit areas to review the relief operations and build trust amongst all the communities of these areas. Dy CM Manish Sisodia, Cabinet Ministers Rajendra Pal Gautam, Kailash Gehlot, and Imran Hussain took stock of the relief operations on the ground. Speaking to the residents of the violence-affected areas, all the cabinet ministers assured them of speedy assistance.
The cabinet ministers also met with the SDMs, DMs, DCs and other administration officials and directed them to ensure that the relief claims are settled in due time.
Manish Sisodia said, “Today I visited some of these riot-affected localities, I had to see what is the present condition now in the area and to take note of the ongoing relief assistance and compensation provided by our government and whether it has reached to the grieving families or not.
The situation is grim today, but I also noticed that the residents displayed a lot of unity amongst themselves, irrespective of their religion, and came out in support of each other during these difficult times.
Our officers are keeping a close watch on the affected areas to report and prevent any untoward incident.
There 18 SDMs pressed into action besides four-night magistrates to assess the loss incurred in the violence as well as to coordinate the relief and rehabilitation works in the affected areas.”
“If the houses in the affected areas are locked, officials are trying to contact the occupants through their neighbors so that their names and details shall be included in the SDM reports.
Till yesterday evening, 79 totally burnt houses, 168 substantially burnt houses, 40 minor burnt houses, 327 burnt shops, and 41 dead bodies as per police reports found. And 422 people were injured”, he added.
Delhi Transport Minister Kailash Gehlot took stock of the situation at Ashok Nagar and Maujpur areas in Shahdara district. Following the review of the relief operations in the area, he said, “Today I visited the riot-affected areas in Ashok Nagar and Maujpur in District Shahdara.
I also spoke to the victims and ensured them of full support on behalf of the government.
The district authorities have been instructed to speed up the process of verification of claims and ensure that all claims are settled within the next two days.”
Cabinet Minister Rajendra Pal Gautam also paid a visit to Ganga Vihar and Ashok Nagar Mosque of Gokulpuri along with the area MLA Chaudhary Surendra Singh.
After the visit, Rajendra Pal Gautam said, “I feel very sad to see how the rioters have selectively targeted homes and shops. It will take years to recover not only from the damage to houses and buildings but also the mutual trust of the people which they lost in this incident.
The Government of Delhi is trying its best to meet all the victims and provide relief and financial aid to each and every victim.”
After the visit, Mr. Gautam also instructed the officers to help the victims fill-up the relief and rehabilitation form immediately.
He also took stock of all the relief work that was undergoing in the constituency.
Delhi Cabinet Minister Food & Supplies and Election, Mr. Imran Hussain visited areas of Shiv Vihar, Mustaffabad, Bhajanpura, and Chand Bagh in North East Delhi to check the functioning of Fair Price Shops, along with the Commissioner, Food & Civil Supplies (CFS) and other senior and Field Officers of Food & Civil Supplies department.
Mr. Imran Hussain directed Commissioner, Food & Civil Supplies to immediately make arrangements for distribution of ration to the beneficiaries attached with the Fair Price Shops which were gutted in the violence.
He reiterated the commitment of Govt. of NCT of Delhi in providing all the necessary needs and assistance to the residents of the areas.
