Delhi:EROS TIMES: The outbreak of the Coronavirus in the whole world scares me.
I pray to God that such an outbreak which has happened in countries like Italy and South Korea, should not happen in India. Even those countries are not being able to contain it.
The virus is still in the stage of containment right now, and we have been able to contain the community spread of the virus.
To date, there are currently 81 cases in the country. I want to thank the Central Government for working in close coordination with the Delhi government and various other authorities to contain the outbreak of the virus.
All the officers are working day and night to address the issue. It is largely because of the support of the people, that Delhi has only six cases to date.
I hope that the Central government is working with all the other state governments with the same cooperation, just as they are working with the Delhi government.
The majority of the cases out of these 81 cases in the country are those who have traveled into India from foreign countries.
But, we do have cases like a mother being infected with the virus because of her child, which is the sixth case in Delhi, which means that some cases are because of close contact with the infected patients. We are working together to contain the outbreak of the virus.
As Health Minister Satyendra said, there is a lot of misinformation on the issue of Coronavirus. It is important for everybody sitting in this assembly, to have proper knowledge about the issue to provide clarifications on the same.
There are only two ways through which the Coronavirus can be spread and escalate.
First is if a person coughs or sneezes on you, and to avoid that everyone should maintain a distance of 1 meter. Second, if I sneeze or cough on a hard surface and somebody touches that surface, he can get infected too.
A healthy person should not wear a mask because it can have a reverse effect on the person.
If a person washes his hands after touching the surface, it can be okay, but it will not be okay if he touches his mouth, nose, and eyes with bare hands, without washing them.
If I am healthy but still using a mask, I will touch my face repeatedly to adjust the mask, which increases the chances of me getting infected because I touched a surface with bare hands and then touched my face without washing them.
This is not an air-borne disease, so a healthy person does not need to wear a mask.
On a hard surface, the virus stays for about 48 hours, and on a soft tissue surface, it stays for about 7-8 days. Instead of using sanitizers, you should wash your hands after every half hour, which would be sufficient.
People are hoarding on sanitizers and masks, which is not needed. It is important for all of us sitting here to inform the people that hoarding is not necessary. Unlike other diseases, there is no cure for this disease, the only cure is spreading information on how to contain the outbreak.
We have made all the arrangements necessary to provide adequate treatment to those who need it.
I hope that the people of Delhi remain safe, and I hope that all the departments will work in cooperation to contain the outbreak.
